Following a round of presentations to the Awards Panel, Navodana Rodrigo from Western Sydney University has been announced as the winner of the 2022 CIB Best Doctoral Research Award.

Navo’s research on ‘Methodology for Estimating Embodied Carbon in Construction Supply Chains through a Blockchain-based System’ received high praise from the judges following her presentation.

The three shortlisted nominees included Navo, An Le from Massey University and Chengyang (Gavin) Liu from RMIT. They were each invited to deliver an 8 minute presentation on their dissertation to a panel of judges.

Spokesperson for the judging panel Billy Hare noted

“All three were excellent.  I will be sending my own PhD students these 3 theses as examples of what a good PhD looks like.  All 3 were well-written and easy to understand.  An’s research was incredibly impactful to asset management is of extreme national importance.  Gavin’s demonstrated an excellent amount of work, and the charts and figures explained the material thoroughly.  Navo’s research and her state of the art critique of block chain is outstanding; the outputs are so current and relevant on a global scale”. 

We will be conducting interviews with all three candidates and you’ll have an opportunity to hearabout their research in more depth and what the CIB Best Doctoral Award means to new researchers.

On receiveing the Award Navo said

“Presenting my research to an international audience is always special and CIB is very helpful for me to do that.  I am very thankful for this opportunity”.
