It takes a village to raise a child

An African proverb that says,

“it takes a village to raise a child”

implies that we are a product of a “village” (community of practice), which is populated by the “villagers”.

In the context of a research and publishing journey, my village is made colourful by ARCOM, ASC, ASOCSA, CIB, EPPM, IGLC and SEEDS to mention a few. Through collaborations, the villagers (authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers) keep the journey on track.

I am grateful to my villagers who shaped my worldviews represented by CIB 123 (People in Construction) work and tirelessly helped me navigate the road to becoming the Editor in Chief of ICE Proceedings Management Procurement and Law. Their efforts will shine through my tenure in the role beginning in January 2024. I thank the panel and the current Editor in Chief, Dr Simon Smith, the publisher (Emerald) and this admirable ‘village’ for the privilege to serve in this role.

I will not be learning to fit into the role if I do not use this opportunity to make a call for paper submissions to the journal. We welcome submissions to regular and special issues from practitioners and scholars alike. With an impact factor of 1.8, and relevant indexing (SCOPUS, etc), we encourage management, procurement, and law-related article submissions to MPL. I will be knocking on the email doors of specific villagers and friendly neighbours.

We appreciate all the congratulatory and support messages received via all platforms since the announcement on 31 July 2023. God bless you richly.
