CIB welcomed 3 new Student Chapters to the fold in 2023, namely the University of Pretoria, University of Newcastle and Nelson Mandela University in South Africa. This brings the total number of CIB student chapters to 20.
A CIB Student Chapter can be a local, regional, national or even international organised group of students, who are enrolled at CIB Member universities, and have an identifiable common interest in the work of one or more CIB Commission or priority themes.
The CIB Student Chapters Annual Report 2023 highlights a host of activities undertaken by members, including seminars, workshops and visits. Members have been successful in the CIB Sebestyén Future Leaders Award, along with actively supporting the Keith Hampson Award and Vistas funding research.
Seminars have been held on a range of topics including how to navigate the PhD pathway, how to communicate research to a broad audience, and even a ‘chatting club’ developed to help PGR students discuss more general issues they may have in their studies.
The full 2023 annual report has been published.
