Publishing with BRI- the Editor’s Perspective hosted by Professor Stephen Emmitt

This will be the first in a series of “Meet the Editors” from CIB Encouraged and Recognised Journals.

Editor-in-Chief, Building Research & Information (BRI) Professor Stephen Emmitt

Stephen worked as an architect, primarily in a design management role, before completing a PhD at the University of Manchester. He previously held the Hoffmann Chair of Innovation in Building at the Technical University of Denmark (2003-2008) and Chair of Architectural Technology at Loughborough University (2008 – 2014). He joined the University of Bath in May 2014 as Professor of Architectural Practice and became Head of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering in August 2016. He has published over 160 articles and 24 books on architectural technology and design management. He has secured and delivered research contracts totaling over £2.9 million and has delivered keynote addresses around the world.

Professor Emmitt joined CIB W096 Architectural Management in 1994 and was Joint-Coordinator of the commission from 2005 – 2011. He was part of the team that initiated and launched the journal Architectural Engineering & Architectural Management (AEDM), taking over as Editor-in-Chief for five years (2014-2018). Stephen became Editor-in-Chief of Building Research & Information (BRI) in 2019.
