Michael Behm has announced that he will be leaving his role as CIB Programme Director by the end of 2022 to concentrate fully on his academic career. We will pay full tribute to Mike nearer the time of his departure, which will not be total as he will remain fully engaged as a member and Commission member for sure, so suffice it to say for now that Mike has been a large part of the re-energising and transformation of CIB since his appointment in January 2020.
If you are interested in succeeding Mike in the role/s of Programme Director or Manager and thereby help progress CIB’s transformation to the next level of impact for the global research community, please contact Don Ward, CEO, for a conversation. Further details are as follows:
Job title
CIB Programme Director/s or Programme Manager/s (part-time)
Summary of the role
To lead CIB’s support for its Working Commissions and Task Groups, Student Chapters and Early Career Researchers network, and to support other activities such as third-party funding initiatives, CIB conferences and publishing including the World Building Congress. The successful individual (s) will have experience with CIB and be committed to CIB’s ongoing success and growth as the preeminent organisation providing a global platform for research and innovation in the built environment.
Hours and location
Part-time, 2-3 days per week. Working from home or your current office, there is no requirement to relocate to CIB’s offices.
Some travel is likely, up to 2-3 trips per year for eg Board meetings or key conferences. As a global platform for built environment researchers, the facilitation and attendance of meetings outside of normal business hours is required.
Salary/fees/cost reimbursement and agreement
CIB has a budget for this role, or roles if more than one person is appointed to be discussed. It is hoped that the successful candidate/s will help CIB grow revenue and hence the budget for such activities such that the budget can be higher in future years.
The contract can be a consultancy agreement with the individual or a secondment or other agreement with their existing employer. In either case the existing employer must be made aware of the proposed agreement. The position is a non-benefited position.
Duration of the role
We envisage any individual taking up the role for a period of between 2-3 years through WBC 2025 and then returning to their previous employer enriched by the experience.
Opportunity/s for job share
CIB would like to explore with individuals and their employers the extent to which more than one person can fill such a role for CIB. We have in mind that it would be great to have people on different continents, and potentially with the financial support of the current employer, eg through a secondment.
