A global platform for resilient urban futures – July 11-14 2027, Brazil
Cities are being reshaped by climate change, rapid urban expansion, the housing crisis and digital transformation. Innovation for Resilient Futures 2027 will bring together researchers, industry leaders, policymakers and community voices together to answer these pressures with nature-based, human-centred and technologically advanced solutions.
Held exclusively in person, in Fortaleza, Brazil between July 11–14, the event replaces passive, presentation-driven formats with structured co-creation: every stream moves from framing to joint work to a shared action plan — producing publications, research partnerships and policy guidance rather than presentations alone.
A call for abstracts has been issued, with a closing date of October 18, 2026.
Innovation for Resilient Futures is being organised by a collaboration of CIB Working Commissions and Brazilian universities, which include:

- W101 – Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Development
- W116 – Smart and Sustainable Built Environments
- TG97-Nature-based solutions for climate resilient buildings and communities
