Vistas funding examples
Vistas funding can be used in many ways, and here are examples of how the previous Vistas funding has been used:
The CIB Vistas Programme 2023 awarded funds to two projects – Smart flexible façade project undertaken by the University of Pretoria and Gender diversity in construction: a global cross sectorial collaboration led by RMIT University Melbourne.
CIB Vistas funding was awarded to a team undertaking a global survey into net zero carbon practices in building and construction.
The CIB Vistas funding supported the team to conduct a global survey aimed at investigating the global net zero carbon building design and construction practices and contribute to the future world view on sustainable construction. Read more

CIB’s Global Research Huddle
Get started with finding collaborators with a CIB Huddle. CIB is the global built environment research platform. Consider a HUDDLE !! A Huddle is a coming together of a number of persons for a specified purpose…in this case to collaborate and innovate a research idea in the global built environment platform. We can’t fund everything even though we would want to. Many ideas don’t need money, maybe they just need a kickstart! Huddles are a great way to move ideas forward and find collaborators for future projects.
Do you have a built environment research idea that connects to UN Sustainable Development Goals and you would like global collaborators? A research collaboration, joint paper with global perspectives, or do you just want to meet like-minded thinkers on a particular built environment research topic, discuss the issues, and see what emerges?
Propose a Global Research Huddle!
Send CIB’s Programme Manager Sina Moradi ([email protected]) your idea, general topic, and what you hope to get out the huddle.
- Write it in the form of a news story to generate interest amongst the global research network.
- Pick a date, but preferably 2 to reach more participants, this will accommodate global network time zones.
- We will promote your event on Eventbrite, market it via newsletters, email blasts and social media
- CIB will provide a Zoom platform for you, and help you communicate the findings / results in the short and long terms
If you have any queries on the CIB Vistas Programme 2025 please contact us anytime – Programme Manager Sina Moradi ([email protected]).
Questions about the Funding
1. How many proposals are you funding?
The fund is to the value of 10,000 euros which may be allocated to a single or multiple proposals. Many small organisations propose seed and pilot funding in this manner. We want to remain flexible. So, give us your best proposal. We envision a scenario where multiple proposals are really exciting. CIB might come back to you and say we want to fund your proposal but can you do it for 6,000 euros instead of the 8,000 you requested so let’s have a chat about how to make it work.
2. Help me understand the connection to Vistas?
Global Collaboration: We seek evidence of new collaborations over extending long-standing ones. We seek global collaborations over regional collaborations (i.e., All over things being equal, a Sweden/Hong Kong collaboration would be favored over a Sweden/Norway collaboration)
People and the Planet: Link your project to one or more UN Sustainable Goals.
Futures: What is the future world view from this proposal? How does it affect and/or include students and early career researchers?
3. How will you rate the proposals?
We will rate the proposals on impact on the 3 pillars of the Vistas programme. In addition, overall clarity of the project, its writing, and the overall impact will be considered.
4. When will you let us know the results?
If we receive many excellent proposals, the timeline will have to be extended for us to sort through and select the best proposals given the budget. We have a tentative goal of informing researchers of the status of their submission by the end of January/February 2025.
