CIB Vistas funding has been awarded to a team undertaking a global survey into net zero carbon practices in building and construction.
The CIB Vistas funding will support the team to conduct a global survey aimed at investigating the global net zero carbon building design and construction practices and contribute to the future world view on sustainable construction.
The project is led by the TG124 Net Zero Carbon coordinators: A/Prof. Senaratne and Dr. Domingo, together with Prof. Srinath Perera. It will be carried out in several countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Sri Lanka, UK, South Africa, Hong Kong and USA. A research assistant will be appointed to assist the project leaders in designing, coordinating and analysing results of this survey.
Research team
The research team will consist of Associate Professor Sepani Senaratne who is affiliated to the Centre for Smart Modern Construction (c4SMC) in the School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment at Western Sydney University. A/Prof. Senaratne is a joint coordinator of CIB TG124 with research expertise on construction project management, circular economy and sustainable construction. Dr. Niluka Domingo, lead CIB TG124 coordinator, is a senior lecturer at Massey university in New Zealand with research expertise on construction waste and net-zero buildings. Professor Srinath Perera is the director of c4SMC and Chair Professor of Built Environment and Construction Management at Western Sydney University, who will mentor the team towards project success.
“We are delighted to be the recipients of 2024 CIB Vista funding to conduct a global survey on net zero building, which will contribute to the three CIB Vista pillars on global collaboration; people and planet; and, futures”
It is with great pleasure to see South Africa included. I am in South Africa, and we have just completed a Net Zero energy House project as NHBRC (National Builders registration council) together with the University of Cape Town. The project was led by Dr Alireza Moghayedi and Karen Le Jeune Mark Massyn and other from the university. it is my believe that Dr Ali can share the experience with NHBRC to CIB. I would be making follow up on this project to contribute to it`s success.
Thanks for your comment and happy to see your interest in our research project. Hopefully, we may be able to get inputs from the researchers that you have mentioned for our project.
