The CIB Student Chapter of Western Sydney University (WSU) was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Award under the category of “Excellence in University Engagement and Sustainability – Student Team” at the annual awards ceremony held online, on 8 December 2020. This award was presented based on their brilliant track record in organising momentous engagement activities in collaboration with the Centre for Smart Modern Construction (c4SMC).
As the first CIB Student Chapter in NSW, the CIB Student Chapter of WSU has been an active advocate to promote a research culture within the built environment research community. The vibrant group of research students in the CIB Student Chapter Executive Committee with the active support of staff advisors, have created several innovative platforms to engage with an international audience. Their events span over a wide variation from academic colloquiums, research competitions, career development sessions, cadet preparation workshops under the concept “CIB buddy”, and live streamed webinars. The CIB Student Chapter has owned the concept “Collective Sensemaking” in its true sense, as they are on the high road to make a difference as a team.
Congratulations to the winning executive committee (2019-20), Priyadarshini Das, Buddhini Ginigaddara, Amer Hijazi, Kasun Gunasekara, Qinjun (Lavender) Liu, and the staff advisors Prof. Srinath Perera, and Dr. Robert Osei-Kyei.
