Closing date end April 2021
Background
CIB’s Student Chapters Committee (SCC) invites bids to advance built environment knowledge by funding functional CIB Student Chapters to support new initiatives to extend current research, innovation, and outreach.
Funding
CIB’s Board has approved maximum overall funding of € 10,000. There were 12 active student chapters in 2020, therefore, an individual Chapter might request up to € 1,000, or a collaboration between 2 Chapters might request a total of € 2,000, and so on. To remain within the total cap of € 10,000, the SCC may agree to partially fund bids or come back to applicants with questions and requests for clarification.
Funding Criteria
- CIB is aiming for “additionality”, i.e. new initiatives, not just funding what is already happening.
- The Board agreed to favour collaborative bids from Chapters proposing to work together and to encourage bids which leverage matching funds where possible. A Slack Channel has been established for Student Chapters collaboration and communication: https://join.slack.com/t/edu-jbz4569/shared_invite/zt-hlu4khc3-yfuCNZv1wvPylduq8CE7pw.
- We welcome collaboration with non-CIB universities or CIB members who do not yet have a Student Chapter.
Rules and Submission Procedures
Each active Student Chapter may submit ONE (1) proposal, either as an individual submission or in collaboration with other Student Chapters.
The proposal should be a maximum of 2-pages that includes:
1) a description of specific projects and potential impact, and
2) a detailed budget for these activities, materials, equipment, travel, etc. that support the projects.
The University’s CIB Student Chapter Faculty Liaison should submit the required materials as an email attachment by the deadline to [email protected] NO LATER THAN 30 April 2021. For collaborative proposals, one submittal is requested which should list all the participating Student Chapters or other organisations.
Selection
The Student Chapters Committee will evaluate all applications and notify the results by 31 May 2021. Criteria include:
- Developing new initiatives or extending current research, innovation, and outreach;
- Impact;
- Originality and Creativity.
Reporting
A Student Chapter who receives funding must submit a newsletter article summarizing activities and how they extended Student Chapter research and innovation by 31 December 2021. They should also plan to hold a webinar for the CIB community in early 2022 to report on their funded activity.
