CIB President Makarand Hastak visited India between January 18th-26th to meet with a number of universities and other research organisations in Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai. He was accompanied by CIB’s chief executive Don Ward and their itinerary included meetings with the following organisations:
- School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi
- IIT Delhi
- Construction Industry Development Council and Indian Society for Trenchless Technology, Delhi
- Delhi Technological University

The trip was extremely productive with a number of individuals and institutions confirming their intent to join CIB to engage more widely with the global research community, and the CIB team were invited to attend a number of conferences later in the year to commemorate new membership agreements, deliver keynote speeches, and further raise the profile of CIB.
Makarand Hastak commented:
“India has so much to offer in terms of its research and case studies specific to the Indian context that would be valuable for the international research community to understand and appreciate. At the same time, research around the world can be made available to university researchers and industry alike through the CIB network. Both Don Ward and I were happy to see such overwhelming appreciation of CIB as a global organisation for innovation in the built environment, and we would like to thank all our hosts for their generosity of time and hospitality.”
