CIB President and CEO visit North American members
CIB President Makarand Hastak and CEO Don Ward undertook a 12-day visit to the USA and Canada to meet with CIB members ahead of the World Building Congress 2025 (WBC2025) to be held at Purdue University from May 19th-22nd 2025.
In a packed trip their stop-offs included North American members Virginia Tech, University of Florida, Auburn University, Purdue University, and the NRC (National Research Centre) in Ottawa, as well as prospective new members at Georgia Tech, ETS Montreal, Concordia University and University of Ottawa. They also met with the UN in New York.
It was gratifying to hear the level of support for CIB and the value of membership, and many ideas for improving that value were collected including themes for new task groups. Many were already planning to attend WBC2025, and were reminded that they had only a few days remaining to submit their papers for WBC2025, and others added the conference to their plans after hearing about its programme. Others who were not members of CIB expressed interest in following up with more information about joining, so we hope that the trip will prove fruitful in many ways.
