In this episode of CIB in Conversation with the keynote speakers for World Building Congress 2022 (WBC2022) in Melbourne Australia in June 2022, Don Ward spoke to Corey Hannett, Victoria’s Director-General of the Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA), overseeing its massive pipeline of transport infrastructure projects since 2014. As head of MTIA, he is responsible for the delivery of some of Australia’s largest transport projects, including the North East Link road tunnel, Metro rail tunnel, West Gate road tunnel, and the removal of 85 of Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested level crossings.
At WBC2022 Corey will speak on the topic of how infrastructure is being planned and delivered in Victoria and how this infrastructure will contribute to Victoria’s future, and in the conversation he discussed some of his key themes including people and culture, safety, management of a complex programme, and community respect. He also talked about his career journey and the importance of a thriving industry to support society’s needs.
