The domicile of the General Secretariat of CIB is fixed by the Board, subject to approval by the General Assembly. At present the domicile of the CIB shall be in The Netherlands as long as CIB has the legal form of an Association (in Dutch: a Vereniging) under Dutch Law.
Since 2019 the CIB has a Services Agreement with the Association for Innovation in Building in Construction (AIBC), a Canadian-registered Not-for-profit Corporation created for the purpose, to provide secretariat and other services. Its Members and Board closely mirror the Board of CIB which has overall control of AIBC.
