16th Innovation Competition in Construction Engineering and Management (ICCEM)

During the recent visit to Tsinghua University as part of the CIB Board meeting, a number of members of the board were invited to participate in the judging panel of the 16th Innovation Competition in Construction Engineering and Management (ICCEM)

The panel consisted of Professor Dr Keith Hampson from Griffith University, Professor Makarand (Mark) Hastak from Purdue University, Mr. Don Ward, Chief Executive of CIB, Dr. Anita Terjek from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Dr. Yong Kwon Cho from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Professor Hongling Guo and Professor Jiayu Chen from Tsinghua University and Gammon Construction Ltd Executive Directors, Ian Choy and Stanley Chen. This prestigious international competition, organized by Tsinghua University and sponsored by Gammon.

This year, 12 teams of students from universities in China and Hong Kong showcased their innovative ideas. Additionally, 11 young engineers from Gammon shared insightful presentations on innovation practices within Gammon. They also participated in the Tsinghua Summer School, where they attended lectures, engaged in site visits, and took part in networking sessions arranged by Tsinghua University.

By supporting such competitions and educational initiatives, the next generation of leaders and innovators in the field will be inspired.
