WSU CIB Student Chapter collaboration on Digital Pathways seminar

The Centre for Smart Modern Construction (𝗰𝟰𝗦𝗠𝗖) and the Western Sydney University 𝗖𝗜𝗕 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 jointly organised the recent HDR Monthly Seminar in collaboration with the School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment (𝗦𝗼𝗘𝗗𝗕𝗘) at the Kingswood Campus.

The seminar, themed “𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺,” brought together academic and industry leaders to discuss how digital technologies are driving sustainability and circularity in the built environment.

Speakers

The event commenced with a welcome address by 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 Srinath Perera, Director of c4SMC, followed by presentations from:

• Dr Biyanka Ekanayake, PhD (Lecturer in Construction Automation and Property Technology at University of Technology Sydney) – 𝘔𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘐 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘋𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘴

A highlight of the seminar was the 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 on “𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺”, chaired by Professor Srinath Perera, featuring an esteemed panel of experts: A/Prof. Sepani Senaratne (Deputy Director-Research, c4SMC), Dr Pradeep Laksiri CEng, PhD (Technical Director, LS-Eco Consulting Pty Ltd), Mr Khalil Mansour, FIEAust (Managing Director, samurAI BI), Mr Andrew Crimston TechCIOB, and Ms Shashini Jayakodi (Vice-President WSU CIB Student Chapter, Doctoral Researcher at c4SMC).

The session was emceed by Ms Iresha Gamage, Doctoral Researcher at c4SMC, and concluded with an engaging networking session among HDR students, academics, and industry professionals.
We extend our gratitude to Professor Srinath Perera, Senior Staff Advisor of the CIB Student Chapter and Director of c4SMC; Dr Samudaya Nanayakkara, Staff Advisor of the CIB Student Chapter; and especially Dr Marini Samaratunga, Engagement Manager of c4SMC, for their support in organising this event.
