Relaunching CIB W120 – Disasters and the Built Environment

CIB W120 Working Commission on Disasters and the Built Environment is resuming its activities in 2025 with a renewed commitment for strengthening disaster resilience in the built environment. As disasters become more frequent and severe, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among researchers, industry experts, and policymakers is more critical than ever.

A Platform for Global Knowledge Exchange

W120 serves as a vital platform for researchers to share knowledge, best practices, and real-world solutions. Our focus includes, but is not limited to, disaster risk reduction, resilient infrastructure, climate adaptation, post-disaster reconstruction, and technological advancements, including digital innovations for disaster resilience.

Key Activities for 2025

A series of interacting activities has been planned for 2025, but not limited to:

  • Online Webinar Series: Regular discussions with expert speakers, focusing on critical topics in the field.
  • Multi-Sectoral Roundtables: Facilitating conversations between academics and practitioners to tackle sector-specific challenges.
  • Local and International Conferences: Organising conferences to showcase research findings and practical solutions to global and regional issues.
  • Joint Special Issues
  • Editorial Book Publication etc
  • Regional project development and
  • Joint funding opportunities etc

We are currently setting up our first meeting, and details will be shared soon. In the meantime, we invite CIB members, researchers, and practitioners who are passionate about disaster resilience to join us.
