Season’s greetings from all at CIB including the Board and its Officers!
Looking at the headlines in this month’s newsletter, my particular congratulations to the winner of the CIB’s Dissertation Award for 2022, Navodana Rodrigo from Western Sydney University. I would also draw your attention to the publication of the Proceedings for WBC2022, the World Building Congress hosted so well by RMIT in Melbourne in June. My appreciation goes to Michael Behm, our outgoing Programme Director, who worked tirelessly with authors to finalise the Proceedings. And let me strongly encourage applications for the Vistas funding, it is important that this new initiative from the Programme Committee gets started with some quality projects.
These are just three of the new initiatives taken by CIB in the last year or so, and in my first six months as President I have been heartened by the sense of invigoration reported by so many of our members at WBC2022 and since then. I want to build on this, and hope that in 2023 members will support the Board’s efforts to grow membership and other revenue so that CIB can provide greater value and support for all of us in the built environment research community.
Next year will be the 70th year of CIB, and the Board is considering how best to mark this anniversary in the second half of 2023. Any suggestions from around the globe would be most welcome, please contact the chief executive in the first instance.
It remains for me to thank the new Board and Officers for their support since June, and to send all our members our very best wishes, I look forward to working with you all in 2023.
Professor Mark Hastak
