Routledge Handbook Of Sustainable Modern Methods Of Construction
Introduction
Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) represent a transformative shift in the construction industry, integrating offsite construction, robotics, automation and digital technologies to deliver faster, safer and more sustainable building solutions. Despite its growing relevance in achieving environmental, economic and social sustainability, scholarly work on sustainable MMC remains limited and fragmented. This book aims to fill that gap by presenting a comprehensive collection of global research in the form of critical reviews, conceptual analyses, case studies and empirical research focusing on the people, process and technology driving MMC. It explores emerging trends such as Construction 4.0, offsite construction, Blockchain and Generative AI, while addressing crucial issues like skill development, productivity and industry-wide adoption. With contributions from academia and industry, this book will serve as a definitive reference for sustainable MMC practices, aiming for transformative impacts on the future of the built environment.
We invite scholars, practitioners and industry experts worldwide to contribute to this forthcoming book.
