It gave me great pleasure to send out the official announcement that the World Building Congress 2022 will go ahead in hybrid mode. The CIB Board deliberated long and hard about this with our RMIT hosts over many months, and we are exposed to some financial risk if the conference is not well attended in person, but I know how most people are so passionate about getting back to a face-to-face event and the Board recognised this too and was unanimous in its decision to go ahead.
The CIB President Keith Hampson and the rest of the Board members look forward to greeting you in Melbourne and to making this one of the most memorable and valuable events in the long and distinguished history of CIB. For those interested, this will be the 22nd WBC since the first in Rotterdam in 1959.
Our hosts RMIT have done an amazing job of organising, and they deserve the biggest attendance possible from our members and the wider research community of our industry around the globe. If you need more of a taster, have a listen to some of the keynote speakers in conversation about their topic, I found them brilliant! Let me know what you think, video here.
More mundanely, but important nevertheless, the General Assembly of the CIB takes place during the Congress. All Lead Representatives of CIB Members have received the formal notice of this meeting in March, this is a particularly important meeting as it includes the election of a new Board and our Officers for the period 2022 – 2025. More information is here, and please contact your Lead Representative if you want to see the candidates and influence your organisations’ voting.
As ever, please contact me at any time with any comments or questions about our work, we aim to be as transparent as possible.
