The Nature-Based Solutions for Passive Cooling workshop was held on May 21st during the WBC2025 Conference at Purdue University.

Following the introductory presentations by Huub Keizers of TNO/CIB, Gennai Kamate of UNEP/GlobalABC/Cool Coalition, and Zahra Jandaghian of NRC – Construction Research Center/CIB-TG97 the workshop brought together 22 dedicated participants from 10 countries for a day of insightful and collaborative discussions. The session was structured around two key thematic areas:
- Climate – Sensitive Design Considerations for Nature-Based Solutions (NBS)
- Strategies for Upscaling and Financing NBS Implementation
Discussion groups
Participants were invited to join one of two focused discussion groups aligned with their interests. These parallel sessions enabled open dialogue and exchange of knowledge and expertise on emerging challenges, practical design strategies, and innovative mechanisms to scale the adoption of NBS in the built environment. If you were unable to attend the Nature-Based Solutions for Passive Cooling Workshop, a summary of the key takeaways, presentation slides and Gennai Kamate’s video can be viewed below:
