New year message from Don Ward, CEO as we look ahead to 2024
I hope all our members enjoyed the festive season, at least in parts of the world where this is celebrated.
As we enter 2024 I’d like to thank all our Officers and Board members, Committee Chairs and members, and Commission/Task Group Coordinators and members, Student Chapters and ECR network members for your participation and support for the purpose and activities of CIB. The level of commitment which I see, in roles which I recognise are voluntary and must play second fiddle to your day jobs, is so impressive and please be assured that we very much appreciate all your efforts and, from time to time, the difficulties in prioritising CIB activities.
The cycle of CIB is set by the World Building Congress, and thanks to the co-chairs for WBC2025, Makarand (Mark) Hastak and Z Torbica, planning is very well advanced as we look ahead to the next edition at Purdue University USA from 19th – 23rd May 2025. The call for abstracts is now open until February 17th so please don’t miss out on this deadline – and don’t assume it will be extended, they are already coming in😅.

My contract as CEO has just been extended for another two years, and I wanted to share with you that I am more ambitious than ever to enable CIB and its members achieve the level of impact that everyone wants from collaboration in CIB. I know we have a long way to go to get to the standards, profile and impact which we need and aspire to, but be assured that myself and the core team of Theo, Sina and Eira are hugely committed to the vision and with your help we can take giant steps forward before we all convene in May 2025. I am sorry that Goh is leaving us, but we thank her for her valued contribution in 2023 and wish her well in her career.
