Twenty-three students, early career researchers, and faculty advisors representing 10 Universities attended the first ever CIB Student Chapter consultative session at the 121st CIB Board meeting on October 20 via Zoom.
President Keith Hampson and CEO Don Ward kicked off the conversations with their enthusiastic support for student success and engagement within CIB. Student Chapters Committee (SCC) Co-Chair Srinath Perera gave updates on the Board proposals for renewing the Sebestyén Award, a CIB Best Dissertation Award, and funding for student chapters to organize activities in 2021. The Board subsequently approved all three proposals in their next and final session; the SCC will develop their awards competitions and budgetary guidelines before the end of 2021. Eight student chapters gave the Board enthusiastic and innovative updates on their activities and plans for 2021. President Hampson final words summarized the notions of the Board; CIB is in great hands for the future!
