CIB President's seminar series

The latest seminar in the CIB President’s seminar series 4 is with Keith Hampson of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBE Australia) on 4th October 2024. Keith will provide an insight into leading collaborative construction industry research in Australia.

Abstract

Australia has grown its influence in international built environment research through CIB over the past two decades through influential leadership and engagement in Commissions, Task Groups and the Governing Board through an active program of working together.

Two of the leading Australian institutions have been Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBEnrc), Australia headquartered at Curtin University, Perth (CEO – Professor Keith Hampson); and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Melbourne (Head – School of Property, Construction and Project Management – Professor Ron Wakefield).

Together, these institutions have built resilient national research programs and independently and jointly led national and international initiatives in safety, innovation leadership, productivity, housing and digital engineering.

A common element in these successes has been Australian industry research collaboration – seeking to leverage national and global scale opportunities that transcend local competition and egos.
