The CIB Student Chapter IST/UL, is hosting a workshop on Circularity and Decarbonization in Construction and the Built Environment taking place later this month on June 29th, 2026 at 10am.
The transition to a circular economy and decarbonization is critical to reducing emissions and improving sustainability in the built
environment. Through their impact on material life cycles, energy use, and construction practices, circular strategies are central to meeting climate targets. Concurrently, the subjects addressed drive productivity and efficiency in an industry adapting to new environmental standards.
Organized by the CIB Student Chapter IST/UL, CERIS, Instituto Superior Técnico, the Workshop CIB 2026 connects academic research with practical industry applications. The event will cover recent European regulations, modular construction, and digital platforms like BIM libraries and Digital Passports. It will also focus on practical implementation, featuring frameworks for Life Cycle Assessment of Net Zero Emission Buildings, circular rehabilitation, and waste management strategies from building to urban scales.
This workshop highlights recent advances in circularity and decarbonization within the construction sector. The event features 15
presenters, including Master’s students, PhD candidates, PhD holders, heads of research, and professors.
