CIB’s New Programme Team

CIB is pleased to confirm the new team to replace Michael Behm, who leaves us to return to full-time academia after a huge contribution to our work and our development over the last three years. Mike is not leaving CIB completely, he remains engaged as a member and totally committed to the success of CIB, but he will be greatly missed in a day-to-day capacity.

The new team is headed by Theo Haupt as Programme Director with Sina Moradi and Cheng Siew Goh as Programme Managers.

Professor Theo Haupt commented:

“This appointment is an exciting opportunity to build on the stellar work of my predecessor during his term.  I am grateful for the opportunity to bring to this new role my many years of experience in CIB and the relationships I have built along the way. I have experienced first-hand the challenges of the transition period in CIB and the impact of COVID-19 when doomsayers thought that CIB would disappear. I believe that CIB is better, is stronger and can be even greater if we work together to achieve that goal. I have adopted the following acronym to drive the activities of my team, namely

  • C – collaborate and compare
  • I- Include and Inspire
  • B- Boost and belong”

Professor Michael Behm commented:

“CIB and its members have positively affected my professional and personal life in so many ways for the past 2-plus decades. I am thankful to Keith Hampson, Chrisna du Plessis, and Peter Paul van ’t Veen for the opportunity to have served as CIB’s Programme Director for the past 3 years. The pandemic was a difficult time for CIB, but we emerged with some wonderful programmes for Early Career Researchers, set a foundation for potential third-party funding mechanisms, and saw some innovative work by Commissions. CIB is in great hands with the current Board supported by Don Ward and Theo Haupt to move forward as the platform for global innovation and research in the built environment. I look forward to being part of this global network and learning from it for many years to come.”

We hope CIB members will make them feel most welcome in their new roles.
