The Wim Bakens Award is given to a Coordinator or groups of Coordinators who have made a substantial leadership contribution to impactful global collaborative research within a Working Commission or Task Group. Nomination were collected by our Programme Director, Michael Behm deadline date -10 Feb 2022. Wim Bakens was CEO of CIB for 23 years until 2017, this award is given in his name every 3 years at the World Building Congress.
The winners of the 2022 CIB Wim Bakens Best Coordinator Awards were announced during our WBC2022 conference dinner at the Town Hall on 29 June in Melbourne, Australia.
Winners in attendance were Billy Hare, Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU)W099 – Safety Health & Wellbeing in Construction, Fred Sherratt, University of Colorado W099 – Safety Health & Wellbeing in Construction. Fidelis Emuze, Central University of Technology, Free State W123 People in Construction was unable to attend the conference however each were recognized for their outstanding service and international leadership in their Commissions during the period 2019 – 2022.
This group of coordinators led 2 online conferences during the pandemic. One of the coordinators upgraded their task group to a working commission the other coordinators lead to external funding bids to 3rd parties on behalf of CIB and a global research consortium. Thank you all for your continued support of CIB.
