CIB has issued a call for proposals to establish new CIB Task Groups focused on cutting-edge research and/or innovation within the built environment sector. This initiative aims to bring together experts from various disciplines to collaboratively address the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of our built environment. New Task Groups, which will have a three-year life span, are expected to foster a multidisciplinary approach to research and promote the development of sustainable, resilient, and technologically advanced built environment.
Scope of the Task Groups
Proposed task groups could cover a wide range of topics within the built environment sector, including but not limited to:
- Sustainable Design and Construction: Advancing energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and resilient building practices.
- Smart Cities and Technology Integration: Exploring the role of IoT, AI, and data analytics in urban development and infrastructure management.
- Health and Well-being in Built Environments: Investigating how design and materials impact human health, productivity, and overall well-being.
- Circular Economy and Material Reuse: Developing strategies for reducing waste and improving resource efficiency in construction and building operations.
- Resilience to Climate Change: Identifying strategies to build and retrofit buildings that can withstand extreme weather events and adapt to changing climate conditions.
- Affordable Housing and Urban Equity: Addressing social and economic disparities through inclusive design and construction strategies.
Proposal submissions guidelines
The guidelines for establishing a Task Group, along with its coordination and activities are laid out in the Guidelines for the Coordination of CIB Working Commissions and Task Groups. Proposals should be prepared according to the given template in Appendix A of this document.
