Joint IsDB-FOCIC-CIB Webinar on “Advancing Innovation and Sustainability in the Construction Industry”, 7th May 2024, 11:00 GMT

CIB has joined up with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and Federation of Contractors from Islamic Countries (FOCIC) to hold a webinar on Advancing Innovation and Sustainability in the Construction Industry. It will be held on Tuesday 7th May 2024, from 2:00-4:00 pm KSA (UTC+3). CIB members are very welcome to attend, to register please click here and you will be sent the webinar link.

The event will be moderated by Dr Hisham Mirghani, Senior Procurement Specialist in IsDB, and speakers include CIB Board member Dr Taha Elhag of Heriot Watt University Dubai, CIB Chief Executive Mr Don Ward, Mr Aamir Mir, IsDB Project Procurement & Financial Management Division Manager, and Eng Zakariyya Al-Abdulgader, FOCIC President.

Key issues to be discussed during the webinar include:

  • Technological Innovation in Construction: Cutting-edge technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), robotics, and 3D printing, and their applications in streamlining construction processes, reducing costs, and enhancing efficiency.
  • Green Building Practices: Sustainable construction materials, energy-efficient designs, and green building certifications, and how these practices can contribute to reducing the environmental footprint of construction projects and achieving energy efficiency goals.
  • Circular Economy in Construction: The concept of a circular economy within the construction industry, emphasizing the reuse, recycling, and repurposing of materials, and strategies to minimize construction waste and promote a more sustainable approach to resource management.
  • Resilient and Disaster-Resistant Construction: Innovative construction practices that contribute to building resilient structures capable of withstanding natural disasters, and materials and technologies that enhance the durability and safety of buildings and infrastructure.
  • Capacity Development: The need for skill development and training programs to equip the workforce with the knowledge and expertise required to implement innovative and sustainable construction practices, ongoing initiatives and potential improvements in training programs.

The key focus of the webinar is to facilitate knowledge sharing, aiming to propel innovation and sustainability within the construction industry.
