Don Ward attended the latest meeting of the Liaison Committee in Brussels in late May 2023.
Business discussed included:
- the Joint Committee on Structural Safety (JCSS), from whom a 50th anniversary Special Issue of papers is imminent, with Working Parties also looking at the Probabilistic Model Code, Risk-Informed Decision Support for Systems Involving Structures, and the JCSS Continuing Education and Advanced School;
- the Joint Committee on the GLOBE Consensus (JCGC), which had its inaugural Board meeting after publishing its policy briefing on Decarbonising Global Construction for COP27 in October 2022, work in progress includes benchmarking of embodied carbon and mapping other initiatives in this field;
- ideas for closer collaboration between the organisations.
