Call for Papers: Architectural Design and Construction for Smart and Sustainable Buildings and Cities

Call for Papers: Special Issue on Architectural Design and Construction for Smart and Sustainable Buildings and Cities

Before the pandemic, society stood on the brink of a technological revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and relate to one another. However, the pandemic forced new ways of working, producing numerous tactics and adaptions among different built environment groups. Set against great uncertainty, responses will need to be integrated and comprehensive, involving stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia and communities. This special issue will include the following topics, among others:

  • Architectural, urban, cultural and management contexts
  • Procurement to improve the quality of the built environment
  • Theoretical approaches for planning and development
  • Designing cities and the built environment for social inclusion
  • Informal cities
  • Improving the delivery of infrastructure from economic and social perspectives
  • Approaches to infrastructure assessment, sustainable solutions and whole-life use
  • Impacts of the pandemic on the design and construction of buildings and what are the cascading impacts
  • Impacts in work/life balance, health, safety, and knowledge sharing
  • Resilient environments and systems.

This Special Issue will publish the best papers submitted to the CIB World Building Congress, Melbourne, Australia, June 2022 on the mentioned topics. Papers published in 2021 and 2022 will be available for free.

Deadline for submissions: April 30th, 2023.
