Objectives:

  1. Promote global engagement: Connect students with CIB’s international network to strengthen cross-border collaboration in architecture, construction, and built environment research.
  2. Advance research culture: Encourage students to engage in cutting-edge building research, with emphasis on sustainability, digital innovation, and resilient infrastructure.
  3. Support professional growth: Provide opportunities for mentorship, leadership development, and exposure to industry practice.
  4. Enhance knowledge dissemination: Create platforms for students to present, discuss, and share their research with academic peers and industry stakeholders.
  5. Encourage innovation and critical thinking: Inspire students to explore practical solutions for societal and environmental challenges in the built environment.
  6. Strengthen visibility of Wolverhampton in CIB: Position the School of Architecture and Built Environment as an active contributor to CIB’s mission of advancing construction research and practice globally.

Governance and Organisation:

  1. Research Seminars & Guest Lectures: Regular sessions where students and invited academics/practitioners present ongoing research and emerging trends.
  2. Workshops on Professional Skills: Activities focused on publishing, academic writing, presentation skills, and career readiness.
  3. Student Research Symposium: An annual event showcasing student theses, projects, and innovative solutions in construction and the built environment.
  4. Collaborative Research Groups: Formation of student-led clusters aligned to key CIB themes (sustainability, digital construction, smart cities, construction management, etc.).
  5. Community Outreach & Engagement: Engagement with local schools, community groups, and professional bodies to share knowledge and raise awareness of the built environment’s societal role.
  6. Well-being and Networking Events: Informal meet-ups, social gatherings, and peer-support initiatives to strengthen the student community.
  7. Participation in CIB Global Activities: Encourage students to join international CIB events, webinars, and competitions, ensuring Wolverhampton’s presence on the global stage.
