W116 Smart and Sustainable Built Environments Newsletter

Dear W116 members,

As 2020 draws to a close, this is a quick update on plans for 2021.

Newsletter: We are moving from Mailchimp to a CIB format which we hope will work well. News and updates will therefore be provided through this newsletter and the website (wwww. https://smartandsustainablebuiltenvironments.wordpress.com/).

If you have not done so already, please sign up to the website for updates ( https://smartandsustainablebuiltenvironments.wordpress.com/2017/09/18/follow-the-smart-and-sustainable-built-environment-blog/).

These communication channels are for the whole group, so, if you have a conference or seminar, would like contributions to, or reviews of, a book, article or paper, have vacancies or studentships, require research partners,  or would like to share some interesting work or an achievement, please write this up as a short article (ideally with a picture) and send it to me and I will post on this on the website and include this with the next newsletter.

SASBE 20201: The SASBE 2021 Conference is being hosted by TUDelft in the Netherlands in October/November 2021. Please make plans to submit papers and attend this. If you have ideas for special sessions, please let me know and I will put you in touch with the organisers.

WBC2022 Conference: Plans for CIB’s World Congress in 2022 are progressing and W116 have indicated that they would like to work with other commissions on a special track session. I will also be working with Pekka Huovila and Usha Iyer-Raniga from the UN’s One Planet Network Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme on a joint session. Please get in touch with me if you would like to be involved in organising these sessions or have ideas for them.

SASBE Journal: If you are looking for a journal to publish in, please start with our journal Smart and Sustainable Built Environments. I am regularly in touch with the Editors and they are always on the lookout for new papers and ideas for special issues. For more information please see: https://smartandsustainablebuiltenvironments.wordpress.com/about/

Lastly, I would like to wish all members a peaceful break over the Christmas period and look forward to communicating with you in 2021.

Dr Jeremy Gibberd
